About Us
CABALLITOS is a small, family owned ocean apparel company that draws inspiration from Peru's
rich maritime history and culture. We are proud of our Peruvian roots and we want to use our
brand to cast a light on Peru's incredible coastline with its world class waves and the
marine life that call this place home.
Inspiration for CABALLITOS
Inspiration for CABALLITOS comes from the Caballito de Totora (Spanish for Little Reed
Horse). The Caballito de Totora is a small watercraft made from reed grass. It is used by
fishermen along the northern coast of Peru to store and transport fish using the natural
energy of waves. Based on archeological evidence, this is a tradition that dates back 3500
years or more, suggesting that one of the earliest forms of wave riding took place along the
coast of Peru.
